What is Gauge?
Gauge, as it relates to packaging supplies, is equal to one-hundred-thousandth of an inch. For reference, a strand of human hair averages at around 400 gauge, or 0.4% the length of an inch.
Most plastic wrap products are available in the 60-120 gauge range, with 80-90 being the industry average. At a gauge of 50-70, laundry wrap is considered medium-grade.
